Privacy Policy

Daybook is a personal expense tracker published by Codescap Software Solutions. This policy explains exactly what the app stores, what it sends anywhere, and how to get rid of it. Last updated 15 September 2026.

The short version

Daybook keeps your ledger on your phone. You can install it, use every feature, and never send us anything. Nothing leaves the device until you choose to sign in, and even then it goes to your own account so you can reach it from a second device.

We do not sell your data, we do not share it for advertising, and the app contains no advertising and no tracking.

What stays on your device

Your transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, bookmarks, repeats and settings are stored in a database on the phone itself. So is your passcode preference. If you never sign in, that is the whole story: none of it reaches us.

What we collect if you sign in

Signing in is optional. If you do, we hold the following in your account:

Email address

Identifies your account. Comes from Apple, Google, or the address you typed.

Name and phone number

Only if you enter them on the profile screen. Both are optional and you can clear them at any time.

Your ledger

Transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, bookmarks, repeats and settings, so the same data appears on your other devices.

An account identifier

A random id that ties those rows to you and to nobody else.

Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google tell us your email address and nothing more. We never see your Apple or Google password.

Bank messages

On Android, Daybook can read bank transaction messages to turn them into entries. That reading happens entirely on the phone. The messages are never uploaded, and any message that is not a bank transaction is ignored and discarded.

On iPhone, apps are not permitted to read the message inbox at all, so Daybook only ever sees a message you paste in yourself.

Crash reports

When the app breaks we receive a crash report so we can fix it. It contains the error, the device model, the operating system version, the app version, and a short trail of what was happening beforehand. If you are signed in it also carries your account id and email so we can tell whether one person hit a problem ten times or ten people hit it once. It never contains your transactions or balances.

Who else is involved

Supabase

Hosts your account and the synced copy of your ledger. Only reached if you sign in.

Bugsnag

Receives crash reports.

Apple and Google

Only if you use their sign-in. They confirm who you are; they do not receive your ledger.

Each of these processes data on our behalf and is not permitted to use it for anything else. There is no advertising network, no analytics broker, and no data sold to anyone.

Deleting everything

In the app, open More → Profile → Delete my account. That removes your account and everything synced to it, immediately and for good, and erases the copy on your device at the same time. There is no waiting period and nothing is retained afterwards.

If you only want the phone cleared, More → Backup → Delete all data does that and leaves your account alone. You can export everything to a spreadsheet or a backup file first.

You can also write to support@codescap.com and ask us to delete your account for you.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Delete the account and it is gone. Crash reports are discarded after 90 days.

Children

Daybook is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
